Sleep paralysis


Sleep paralysis is a sensation of being aware but being unable to move. It can occur in the moment of beginning to sleep or when waking up  and it is accompanied with feeling of anguish.It is of few duration.The person is fully conscious, with auditory and tactile ability, but can not move or speak, which can cause great anxiety.



Many times, sleep paralysis is associated with paranormal events or nightmares, in which the person is sold by fear, awakening terrified and frustrated by not being able to find an explanation to the facts.



In people with post-traumatic stress, anxiety and panic attacks, it is also very frequent the presence of sleep paralysis that, according to studies, the experience 10% of the world population. It affects people of all ages and is more common in adolescents and young adults.





The treatment depends on the patient's state of seriousness. The main treatment is to improve sleep habits, such as going to sleep at the same time every night, provide a comfortable sleep environment free of distractions, and avoid caffeine before bedtime.


At work, it affects the state of mind because the person does not sleep correctly due to fear of suffering this paralysis again. It can also scare the family and the people around this person.
